Yesterday I endured the inevitable and spent my lunch break at the DPS to get my new driver license. I realize it has been almost four months since I got married; however, as everyone does, I strongly dislike waiting in line at the DPS. This trip was relatively quick and painless though, especially since I dragged my husband along to keep me company.
This was my final step in getting my name legally changed from Megan Duron to Megan Hopkins. I would go out on a limb and say this was probably the most emotional trip I've made to the DPS thus far. For nearly 26 years of my life, I have been known as Megan Duron. I have endured the jokes that my initials spell MAD (Megan Allison Duron) and I have mastered my signature for the day I get famous. But as with most things, that has changed.
This was certainly a good change, don't get me wrong. But it was a change nonetheless. I am so happy, honored and excited to be a Hopkins, but I can't help but have a small pinch of nostalgia as my name was one of the most definitive things I got from my dad. I know one day it will feel weird to hear someone call me Megan Duron, but right now I am learning to adjust to yet another (exciting!) change in my life.
Here's to many years as Mrs. Hopkins! :)
Congratulations Mrs. Hopkins, that`s a big step!
